Dear Colleagues and collaborators, it is our pleasure to annouce the
Intensive Research Programme on Statistical advances for complex data
at the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica between September 8 and November 27, 2015. See the Agenda and links at the end of this message.
Statistics is the science of data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Some of the problems we face today include complex data arisen from genomics, clinical trials, radiation analysis, etc. Datasets are currently being collected that contain, hidden in their complexity, important information waiting to be discovered. The incredible potential of statistics in a world becoming more and more data-driven is the main goal of this Research Programme.
The programme will focus on three topics: Modeling and analysis of biological/biomedical data, Biostatistical methods for clinical trials and for complex time-to-event data and Statistics and big data.
The scientific organizers of the event are from 5 universities and one pharmaceutical company in Catalunya: UPC, UB, UAB, UVic and ULleida and Almirall, SA.
The scientific program includes the participation of 12 distinguished professors from different institutions around the world , who will deliver courses, weekly seminars and workshops. You can get all the details here (http://www.crm.cat/en/Activities/Curs_2015-2016/Pages/SACD.aspx).
On behalf of the Scientific Committee it is my pleasure to invite you to attend and collaborate in this event, which I hope you will find attractive and substantive.
Guadalupe Gómez (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya)
